Ghee Rice


Rice is a staple food in south India and there are various recipes which either calls for direct use of rice or in its some other form like flour, etc. however, among all rice recipes, G
hee 
Rice is best recipe due to its simple preparation and heavenly incomparable taste.

I'll be posting some otherice recipes soon.
Here goes one which is inspired by the famous Empire Hotel in Karnataka -  The Ghee Rice.






Ingredients

Rice, Basmati - 1 1/2 cups 
Onions - 2
Garlic - 1 tsp
Ghee - 1/4 cup
Clove - 3
Cinnamon - 25 mm (1") 
Bay leaf - 2
Cardamom - and 
Black Peppercorns - 1/2 teaspoon


Method

Soak rice in water for half an hour and cook the rice and drain out the water.
Fry onions and lot of chopped garlic in ghee.
Add whole spices like clove, cinnamon, bay leaf, cardamom and some pepper corns.
Once the onions turn golden brown, pour the mixture on the cooked rice and mix.
You can garnish with fried cashewnuts and raisins.
Your Ghee Rice is ready. Serve hot with chicken, salad and yogurt.
Now, isn't that sooooo simple.
