Apple Rose Pie Tart

Did you know that Apple pies are Americas favorite dessert, so much so that some things are said to be as American as apple pie.
Here is my apple and rose story - What do you do when you have some things handy like Apple, Lemon, Cinnamon, Honey and off course the leisure of time...just get them all together to compliment each other and be a little creative. That's what I did and here it is for you guys...

1. Cut an apple into half and thinly slice them. Add 2 tbsp sugar along with 3 tbsp water and 1 tbsp honey. Tip in the sliced red apples and bring it to a boil. The apple slices should soften just enough to be rolled. This should not take more than 4 mins. Remove each slice and spread it out in a plate. This is just so that they don't stick to each other.
2. In a mixing bowl add 2 tbsp butter and 3 tbsp of left over mixture from the apple that has been cooked. Sieve in 1 cup of all purpose flour and knead well.

3. Divide the dough into half and roll out each part into thin sheet and cut out strips approx 1 inch in width and 8 inches length.
4. Place 5 - 6 pieces of Apple slices just overlapping each other. Roll the apple slices along with the dough strips into a cylinder form. The shape will look like the pic shown. Place them in cup cake molds.
5. Bake in a preheated oven at 180° C for 15 - 18 mins
6. Brush the top with honey and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar powder.
A very delight and gorgeous looking apple rose tart will be ready!! The most common toppings for apple pie are vanilla ice cream (a la mode) and cheese (American cheese or cheddar). Try it!!
